March 2020
UPDATE March 20: Training sessions schedule for April 6 have been cancelled due to the COVID 19 situation. Training packages will be sent out to those who registered, and it is not too late to join the team! If possible, a Trail Ambassador social event will be held at Kekuli Bay Provincial Park after training. Stay healthy, and maintain recommended social distance while enjoying our beautiful trail.
Are you friendly and outgoing? Do you frequently use the rail trail? Can you demonstrate good trail etiquette to inspire other trail users? Would you like to join a committed group of volunteers to help make the rail trail the best it can be? If you can make a regular commitment to be on the trail connecting with other users, and acting as the “eyes and ears” for the trail, then consider volunteering as a Trail Ambassador!
An informative training session and social event including volunteers from last year’s pilot Trail Ambassador program will help get you started. Pre-registration is required.
Training sessions will cover the Trail Ambassador (TA) program, the role of TAs, the history of the Okanagan Rail Trail (ORT), and how Friends of Okanagan Rail Trail (FORT) and the ORT owners’ committee are working to improve the trail. You will also learn how you will be supported and tools available to be a successful volunteer.
To register, please email: [email protected] with “TA Training” in subject line.
