Let’s Create An Okanagan Legacy
Trail Construction is underway! This beautiful corridor is now being transformed into a community legacy. Unfortunately this means there are some trail closures.
URGENT: Trail along Kal Lake is closed!
Starting Tuesday October 10th the trail along Kalamalka Lake will be closed. It is very important that we all respect this closure. Work being completed will involve large equipment moving quickly and rock scaling (rocks falling onto the trail). This work will involve digging up the subgrade of the rail bed, widening the base, and rebuilding the grade to create the base of the trail. Safety is the ultimate concern and this is the reason absolutely no one will be allowed on the trail. If someone bypasses the closed section of trail, work will have to stopped resulting in a loss of work and an increase in costs to develop the trail so please respect the closed signs. We realize that we all love to use the trail, however now we need to give the trail time to be developed.
The trail will most likely be closed until spring as the work to be completed is dependent on the weather. Also, work is required to repair erosion damage from the high waters this past spring. This work has yet to finalized and hopefully will occur early in the new year when water levels are low. As a result, the trail will likely remained closed until all work is completed.
Again, please respect the closure signs. It is the best for everyone. Thank you.
Sections along Wood Lake to remain closed.
Work continues along Wood Lake and will likely continue into winter. Any change in this closure will be posted here.
See 'Constructing the Trail' for more details on developing the trail.
The trail will be scheduled to be completed when the final stage of funding is raised. Let’s Finish the Trail!
