March 2019.
The Okanagan Rail Trail was built from the spirit and generosity of our communities, and support from enthusiastic volunteers. A new non-profit society, “Friends of the Okanagan Rail Trail” (FORT) has formed to support future work to make the trail the best it can be. Many of the FORT foundational members come from the Okanagan Rail Trail Initiative (the volunteer group who supported community fundraising to build the trail). The trail owner jurisdictions have endorsed FORT as the official NGO partner, and partners are now working together to determine priorities.
