April 2018.
On April 11th the federal government announced a grant for up to $1.3 million is available for the trail. “This grant will go a long way to helping to complete the trail”, says Brad Clements who is a volunteer Trail Ambassador. “We are very grateful for the support from the feds”.
The interjurisdictional development team (IDT), a team representing the 3 municipalities and the OKIB and is responsible for developing the trail, is waiting for the details on the grant to determine which costs are eligible. As with most federal infrastructure grants, this grant covers 1/3 of all eligible costs remaining for a project. The amount funded on the homepage will not be increased until this is determined.
